Purpose Statement
Community Engagement in Learning Team
Our staff are committed to engaging families in their children’s learning. Our aim is to provide opportunities for families to participate in experiences that will help build an understanding of how our children learn. We strive to strengthen educational partnerships across our College community and beyond.
Information Sessions
Supporting Your Child’s Learning at Home
Term 1, 2019 – An information session was held for families of students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. The session focused on the College expectations of learning and the different assessments used to support teaching and learning. Families were provided with materials to support their children’s learning at home.

Parent Engagement in Learning Course
Term 1, 2019 – Parents participate in a course that equips them with the knowledge and skills necessary to support their children with reading at home as well as at school as a parent helper using selected Duke and Pearson comprehension strategies.
If you are interested in joining the “Parent Engagement Learning Course” and support our school community, please speak to the office staff.

Reading Mantra
The Reading Mantra was developed at Truganina College to support students develop their thinking and deeper understanding of the text. Students use this across the college during reading.

The Maths Mantra was developed at Truganina College to support students thinking when responding/solving Maths Problems.
