ICT Update 2026
Responsible Digital Citizenship
THINK poster
From 2026, Truganina College will provide enough devices for ALL students to use in their classroom. This means that parents no longer have to buy their child a device and children will no longer be required to bring their own device to school.
This change brings many benefits:
Equity – every child has the same access to technology.
Savings – no extra costs for families.
Safety – greater eSafety controls and protections.
Support – devices managed and maintained by the College.
What if my child already has a device?
If your child currently has a personal device, they are welcome to continue using it at home to support homework or personal learning. However, from 2026, school-based learning will take place on College-managed devices only.
Why has Truganina College made this change?
This decision has been made for several important reasons:
– Equity: Every child deserves the same access to learning tools. Not all families are in a position to purchase devices, and we want to remove this financial pressure.
– E-Safety: School-managed devices allow us to provide a safer online experience for students.
We can better manage what students access, improving their digital wellbeing and protecting
them online.
– Consistency: When all students use the same type of device and applications, teachers can
provide clearer instructions, consistent learning experiences, and better support in the
classroom.
– Reduced Costs for Families: Families will no longer need to purchase, insure, or maintain
personal iPads or devices for school use.
– Better Learning Outcomes: Centralised device management allows us to ensure that all digital tools are updated, reliable, and ready for learning — meaning fewer disruptions and more time focused on teaching.
This improvement reflects our College’s ongoing commitment to equity, safety, and excellence in learning to BELIEVE, ACHIEVE, & SUCCEED
