What time does school start and finish?

For all Foundation – Year 9 students, school starts at 8:45am and finishes at 3:00pm. Any students arriving to school after 8:46am will need to report to the front office to sign in late.

How do I report my child’s absence?

You can report absences for a full day, partial days or multiple days through Compass via the student profile > “Add Attendance Note”.
If you are unable to access Compass, please call or email the office for assistance.

What should I do if my child is late?

School begins at 8:45am. All students arriving after 8:46am must report to the office to sign in using the digital kiosk. Parents can also go to the office on the child’s behalf to sign in late for them.

Can I pick up my child during school hours?

Yes, you can. Please be mindful when collecting students around recess or lunch times, as it will take additional time for them to report to the office. If you intend to collect a student, please call the office in advance so they can be ready.

Before picking up your child, please contact the office regarding your child’s early departure as early as possible or before 12pm on the same day, and advise the following.

  • Your name and relation to the student
  • Child’s name
  • Class and Year level
  • Time of departure

Please note: An adult must sign your child out at the office. If someone else is collecting them, notify the office and ensure they are listed as an authorised contact. Without consent from a primary family member, any unauthorised contacts will be unable to pick up the student.

How do lunch orders work?

Lunch orders are available through Bocca’s online ordering system. All orders must be place prior to 9am to meet the cut off time for that day. Full instructions are available under the “Canteen” tab.

How do I notify the school if my contact details change?

Please update your details through Compass or contact the office so we can update your child’s records immediately.

What is the school’s uniform policy?

Students are expected to wear the full school uniform every day. Uniform items can be purchased from our approved supplier Noone. For assistance with uniform items and payment, contact the office.

What should my child bring to school each day?

We recommend a hat, water bottle, lunch/snack, school diary and any required learning materials.

Can I volunteer at the school as a parent helper?

Truganina P9 College values the support given by parents – in the classroom, around the school and at home. All volunteers must have a valid working with children check. If you would like to show interest in upcoming volunteer opportunities, please provide your WWCC to the front office staff to scan and add to our records.

 

How do I contact my child’s teacher?

  • Phone the school and ask for a meeting/phone conference
  • Email the school and request to speak with the teacher
  • Contact the staff using the compass portal

How do I pay school fees or excursions?

All payments can be made through Compass under “Events”, or at the office if assistance is needed.

How will I receive updates or newsletters?


Updates and messages are sent through Compass to families via the newsfeed and notifications. Newsletters are posted on Compass and the school website fortnightly.

Who do I contact if I have concerns about my child?

Start by reaching out to your child’s classroom teacher or year level coordinator. For wellbeing concerns, contact the office in writing via email to be forwarded to the Year Level Assistant Principal.

How does the school support students with additional needs?

We provide Individual Education Plans, SSG meetings, teacher aides, and learning adjustments based on individual assessments.

What happens on curriculum days or student free days?

These dates are posted on Compass and in our fortnightly newsletter. Team Kids may be available – contact the provider to book.

What is the policy on mobile phones?

Students who choose to bring mobile phones to school must have them switched off and securely stored during school hours, as per Department of Education policy. For details all policies, please visit the Policies page.

What if my child loses something?

Lost property hosts open days a few times a term. Please see the front office or newsletters for times and dates for lost property openings. Please enusre all belongings are labelled to help items find their way back.
