Our Commitment To Safe, Responsible Online Learning

At Truganina P-9 College, we are committed to helping students become safe, respectful and confident online learners. Digital Citizenship and eSafety is part of our everyday teaching, and we partner with families to support positive and safe online behaviours at home and at school.

The ways we teach and promote eSafety are backed by evidence and support a nationally consistent approach to preventing and responding to online safety issues.

These resources each contribute to creating safer online environments for school communities, and are categorised into four elements: Prepare, Engage, Educate and Respond.

Relevant Truganina College Policies

What does this mean for under 16s?

From 10 December 2025, a new law means age-restricted social media platforms will need to take reasonable steps to prevent Australians under 16 from having a social media account. The law is intended to capture
social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, X, Facebook and YouTube.

Delaying access to social media will help protect the health and wellbeing of young people and give them extra time to develop real world connections and digital literacy skills before they join global platforms. Under 16s will still be able to access messaging, gaming, professional networking and development services, and services that are primarily for the purposes of education and health support.
